Christmas Program

So there's a big holiday coming up that everyone is talking about called Christmas. Apparently it's a pretty big deal. In fact, it's such a big deal at my school, that we have a program about it. The bigger kids (the 2's, 3's, 4's & 5's) get to sing Christmas songs and perform on stage. They rang bells, dressed like reindeer and elves and danced little jigs. Since the kids my age are too little to sing, we get to do something different. Our parents dress us up in an outfit, write a little blurb about it and we get to walk the runway....just like a New York fashion show! I don't know why they think we'd like this better, I think it would be more fun to sing but I did what I was told. Dress up and walk (well, not really I was held by Ms Trina on stage.) Most of the other babies wore more casual or fun outfits, but I dressed up in my formal gown from my baptism. Mom wrote something like the following...

"Lainey is wearing a formal gown by the K.I.D collection. Dressed in a white satin gown with organza overlay and a pink sash and headband to boot, she wore this for her baptism and stole the show. With a button up back and no bloomers, this dress makes it easy for moms to change undergarments. Paired with white pair of stockings and cute little dress shoes, this dress is perfect for any formal occassion. Thanks Lainey!"

I was quite the cheeseball on stage. All the other babies were like "whatever, i don't want to be here, get me off stage," but not me. The audience ooooo'd and awed over me so ate it up. I smiled, giggled and loved being the center of attention :)

Here's me and my friends before the show. We had the red carpet roll out as we pulled up to the show in our stretch limo buggy!

Here's me and my buddy Thad. His mom dressed him up in formal clothes too, so it looks like were going to a dance together! Don't worry, he didn't put any moves on me!

Halloween and A Day at the Park

As many of you know, the bunny costume won out. So, I dressed up with all my friends at daycare and we went trick or treating. We were quite the sight. Here we are strolling around in our beloved buggy. I was excited to be out, but everyone else looks less than amuzed. I didn't want to miss anything! Last weekend mom, dad and I went to Loose Park. It was a really pretty day and the trees were bright and colorful. I saw these birds on a little pond there. These birds swim, that seems silly to me but they do. I thought birds were fliers, not swimmers? Now I'm confused. Here's a picture of those birds and trees. Mom and Dad played with this plastic circle called a frisbee. They tell me I'm too little to play, so I watched in my stroller while I chewed on my own circle thing ;) They were funny to watch. I don't think mom is as fast as dad...I wonder why? This weekend Mema and Pappo came up, but only for a little bit. They went on vacation to Las Vegas and stayed with us before they left for the airport. The next day Grandma came into town. We had fun playing! Here's a picture of Grandma and I watching the KU/Nebraska game at McFadden's. KU didn't win...darn Jayhawks :( One last thing. Here's a video of me and this new thing I found. While I was scooting around I bumped into this thingy and it made a funny noise. I noticed if I kept moving it, it continued that funny noise. I like it! Signing off .yjc lkcv,mcfgtifmvlkf8odldlb;;g (usually I just tell mom what I want to say, but that was me really typing!!)

I Got Baptised!

I had a very big day today...I got baptised! We went back to Beloit to Mema and Pappo's house this weekend and had lots to do. Saturday we took a family picture and I had to dress up in lots of other outfits for more pictures. I know I'm cute and all, but sometimes this picture thing can get overdone! I'll have mom send out an email when the pictures are available online. After pictures we went to a craft show and shopped downtown Beloit. I waited very patiently while Mommy tried on every pair of jeans in the store. Aunt Kelv and Uncle Karton came up later to hang out with me. I showed them lots of stuff. I dressed up in my halloween costume, I showed them how I crawl and I did my best at showing them new sounds I make ;) Grandma, Grandpa and Great Grandma Claussen came up and we all went to church for my big day. I did really good and never cried once! Not even when pastor took me from dad to put that holy water on my head ;) After I got wet, he held me up to the congretion for them to check me out. I had a few things I wanted to say after such a big event, so I grabbed the microphone off pastor's robe! He didn't let me say much but I sure tried! This week is Halloween...I can't wait for you all to see me in my bunny costume!

Me getting holy water on my head....sorry it's a little fuzzy.

I was a very good girl for pastor.

Me and my friend Maddy at school.

What did I do?

Toofies, Mobility & Food

So I wanted to update you on a few exciting things. First and foremost, I want to thank those of you who offered your opinions on my halloween outfit. I have decided to go with the bunny. I tried it on last week and although it's a bit much, I do look pretty cute! Second, I wanted you to know that I'm getting these things called teeth. My two bottom toofies are almost all the way in and they really hurt. They keep me, mom and dad all up at night. I try to be tough but sometimes the pain is more than I can stand :( Third, I'm really starting to discover some independence! One day mom wasn't watching me and I really wanted my pacifer. She apparently didn't hear me, so I went to get it myself. It was a little out of my reach, so I started scooting forward. Once I got going I was doing the army crawl! It won't be long until mom and dad chase me everywhere :) Finally, I am eating more solid foods. I have about had it with rice cereal and oatmeal. I'm actually eating stuff with flavor now - sweet potatoes, applesauce, bananas, pears and squash. I really like my new foods.

Me waiting on mom to leave for school.

Mom's new haircut. No, she doesn't like it.

My favorite toy...paper!

Mom thinks I look cute in this towel and wanted a picture. I wanted to tell her "look it's cold after my bath and there's no time for pictures - get me dressed!"

What should I be for Halloween?

So there's this day coming up where everyone gets dressed up as different things, animals, people etc. I'm not sure how I feel about dressing up all day, but I was told I have to dress up as something. Here are some ideas I have for me. I'm leaning towards the pink bunny or white tiger costume. Any thoughts?

I'm not a thumb sucker!

Mom thought she was going to take a picture of me sucking my thumb, but I pulled it out of my mouth just in time so she didn't have the proof. I don't know what the big deal is anyway. Maybe if she didn't have the camera so close to my face I would have cooperated more :)

Work, Olympics and Friends

Daddy dropped me off at mommy's work right after I got my shots at the doctor's office. Those things hurt really bad and I wish the doctor would stop poking me with those needles so often :( I hung out with mom the rest of the day at her work. I was really good b/c mommy said to be on my best behavior. This is me hanging out at mommy's desk.

This is me watching the Olympics. I wanted to see what all the hype was about this Phelps guy, turns out he's pretty good. After that I watched the men's basketball, turns out they're pretty good too!

So remember that furry friend I was telling you about? Well here she is. She's always following me around and I'm not sure why. I'm keeping my eyes on her.....

This is my Aunt Kelv. Her and Uncle Karlton were in town over the weekend. She was holding me while mommy snapped some pictures of me with this new bow thing on my head. The two of them tried to get me to smile for a cute picture, but I didn't feel like it. You try putting a new bow thing on your head and smile. I didn't keep it on very long - hehe!

I'm Taking Over

Well, I (Lainey) have decided to take over these posts from now on. Mommy and Daddy don't really know how I feel all the time (although they try their darndest), so this is a good way to get my feelings out! I figure it will be more fun to read what my life is like from my perspective anyway ;)
I LOVE my buggy rides at daycare! I get to go outside two times a day with all my friends in this cool red buggy! Once we're outside my older friends get to play on the equipment, but since I'm still little I have to sit here. Most of the time I get bored waiting for them so I take little naps while until we're ready to stroll around again. Mommy wanted Miss Beth to take a picture of me in the buggy, so here it is. I look pretty ridiculous, they always wrap me up like a baby burrito when I'm sleepy...ugh!

Last weekend mommy went to a bachelorette party, whatever that is, and daddy stayed home to play with me. We had lots of fun while mommy was out with her friends! We read books, played in my swing and daddy hummed me to bed (thank goodness he didn't sing, I don't have the heart to tell him he doesn't have a very good singing voice). Recently, this furry thing has started to hang around me more. I'm pretty sure this thing is a cat who mom and dad call Meadow. I know she caused mommy alot of grief when I was first born (peeing on all my stuff, chewing on my toys, etc), but I think she's kind of getting used to me and I'm kind of getting used to her. I know sometimes she can be a bit moody, so hopefully she doesn't give me any attitude otherwise I'll have to show her who's boss around here! I'll post more later - it's getting close to my bedtime so I better go. Good night!

Finally something else to eat!

Lainey amazes me everyday. She's becoming more alert and aware of her surroundings all the time. Recently, she started to hold her own bottle. She gets frustrated at first because she forgets to hold the bottle up in order to get anything to come out. Once she remembers (or gets a little help from mom or dad) she does great! In fact, if you take her bottle away from her she gets mad! We just started her on some rice cereal which she seems to really like. She was a little confused on how to eat from a spoon, but towards the end of the bowl she got the hang of it. Learning how to eat from a bowl requires more clean up effort on mom and dad's part. She had rice cereal everywhere......ears, nose, clothes, neck rolls, hands, dad's legs, etc! It was fun to see her try something new to eat. As I dropped her off at daycare this morning I noticed a new little girl in the infant room. Her name is Madison and is adorable! I'm sure they'll be great friends and create lots of trouble for their teachers Miss Beth and Miss Trina :)

Almost four months

So Lainey will be four months on the 10th, hard to believe. She's already showing signs of teething (drooling, knawing on her hands, runny nose, etc), which seems early but I guess it's really not. In addition to her teething symptoms, she threw up and had a extremely loose stools this morning. Her first sickness, I feel so helpless :( Not much we can do as far as medication at this point b/c she is so young. Benadryl is about all she can take, the upside for mom is she's more sleepy! Lainey is also working on holding her own bottle which is fun to watch. The bottle is too heavy for her to hold with 4 ounces, but boy when she gets half way thru she wants to hold it! She is in the best place she could be for child care. They are working with her on sign language (she's working on signing "more" right now), they help her to raise up on her arms and also encourage her to babble in conversations! How the heck you babble in conversations is beyond me, but she seems to be doing well. She's the only girl and the youngest baby right now in the infant room, so she gets spolied with attention. It makes me feel good she's loved :)

We went back to Ellsworth this weekend to play in a golf tournament. Ryan and I both played in the tourney, so Lainey hung out with the grandmas. She saw all four grandmas this weekend(Mema, Grandma Peschka, Great Grandma Claussen and Great Grandma Rosie)! Makes me miss my Grandma Wilson and wish she could be around to see Lainey grow up.
The pictures - Lainey's cousin Chloe showed us how to pick strawberries on her field trip at school when we were out in DC. Her cousin Dylan had a baseball game, his team is also known as the Bad News Bears. It was good to see them this summer and Lainey enjoyed her new cousins! The rest are just some fun pictures around the house. Enjoy!

Baby P

I know this is a lot overdue, and I will do much better at posting in the future. As most of you already know, Baby P has finally arrived. Lainey Wilson Peschka came into the world on at 6:18 p.m. on April 10th happy and healthy. She was 8 pounds 4 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long. I know I should have posted long before now, but it's been an adjustment to a new schedule and caring for another little person who is completely dependent on you for everything. Lainey is now 3 1/2 months old and as cute as can be! She's rolling over tons and babbling to everyone! She has a great time with all her new friends and seems to be adjusting well to her new surroundings at daycare. I probably had the most issues adjusting, but it gets a little easier everyday.

There's so much that has transpired in the last three months it's hard to catch up on every event. So far in Lainey's first few months of life she's seen three weddings, two graduations (one being her daddy from KU with his MBA), went to DC on an airplane to visit her Aunt Stephie and Aunt Kiwi and had numerous trips back to see Mema and Pappo and Grandma & Grandpa Peschka. At her Aunt Kelv's wedding she was very honored to accept a position as "Special Guest!" Pretty much Lainey showed up to the wedding and got loved on the entire time, that was the duty of the Special Guest.

The first picture is Lainey when she was first born...I believe she was 3 days old. She really wanted to sport her KU hat after winning the National Championship - she told me ;) She is six weeks old in the swimming suit picture. We needed to get her a swimsuit for her trip to DC because Steph and Brian have a pool in their backyard. She didn't swim, but she looked cute hanging out by the pool with us anyway!

I will do better about posting Lainey's new developments and events in the future. Now that I'm back into a routine it will be better...I think :-)

Baby P is almost here!

I know it's been awhile since I've posted, sorry! The first picture is from the 3rd week of March and the second picture is from today. I've been going to my weekly visits now since I was 36 weeks and the doctor doesn't really have any exciting news other than I'm at about 2 cm and very "soft" (whatever that means). He says I just need some contractions to start kicking in for me to go into labor....that's so exciting and scary! I'm hoping after the KU game tonight I'll be so rowled up that the baby wants to see what all the commotion is about! If for some reason the baby decides to not come out on his/her own, the doctor is going to induce me on Thursday morning (the 10th). I really didn't want to be induced, but the doctor will be out of town the following week and I didn't want a stranger delivering Baby P! It's hard to believe that the baby is almost here and we FINALLY get to see if it's a boy or a girl! Ryan thinks girl, I think boy. We still don't have names picked out so maybe we'll be looking to the white pages for advice....who knows! Hope this finds you all doing well and I will post pictures next week of our new arrival!! One more thing........ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!!

Baby P's Room.

Ok, for some reason, the picture size won't cooperate, so here's the best I could do. Of course the picture of Ryan and I putting the crib together would be the only one that ended up the right size :) Hopefully you can see the bedding good enough to see the cute little fishes. We decided not to paint the room until the baby gets here. It was hard to get a picture of the entire room, so on the other side of the crib sets the dresser and rocking chair. The room looks sort of plain right now, but still turned out very cute!

Pictures

I can't get my pictures of the shower and Baby P's room to download off my camera. I have not forgotten to post, I'm just running into some "technical difficulties." I know some of you are patiently waiting (Molly), so I wanted to justify my delay :-) I hope to figure this out soon!

Happy Valantine's Day @----"-----

Happy Valentine's Day! This weekend mom is coming into town to help us with the baby's room! I'm so excited to finally get started! The furniture finally came in, so now we need to paint and relocate Ryan's "office." His stuff is getting moved to the basement which I don't think he's happy about, but Baby P has priority :) It will be great to have mom's help with all of this. She's really great at this sort of stuff. I'll post pictures of the nursery progress so everyone can see what Baby P's room will look like!
I'm starting to get a little freaked about the delivery....fear of the unknown. Thank goodness for Katy (co-worker). She's brought to my attention that now is a good time to pack a bag for the hospital, write down a list of people to call when Baby P gets here, and to have a plan just in case something happens at work. The funny thing is, she doesn't have any kids and she is the one keeping me in check with this stuff! If I didn't have the help and advice of friends and family I would be so clueless.
Yesterday I called 911 on accident at work! I was trying to dial a 913 area code and my finger slipped and hit 1 too many times. The receptionist immediately sent me an email with the subject "Did you call 911?!?! Are you having the baby?!?! Your phone says emergency!!" Oops.
I have Baby P's first shower on Sunday....we're very excited! I'll post fun pictures from that as well next week. Again, Happy Valentine's Day!

A Massage Today!

Today I'm going to get a pregnancy massage and I couldn't be more excited! Recently I'm struggling with sleep due to all this extra baby weight, so this massage comes at just the right time :)
When I went to the doctor right after Christmas he wasn't very happy with me. I gained a little too much weight for him I guess, but dad gum it was the holidays! So, I decided to be better and eat more fruits and veggies. The doctor was very proud of me at my next visit - I didn't gain any unnecessary weight! I was proud of me too, so I celebrated with a big bowl of ice cream.
Baby P is starting to move a whole lot now. It feels so weird and like my stomach is having spasms! He/she is kicking me even as I type this. Ryan finally felt the baby move, I'm not sure he knew what to think. He looked at me and said, "You're doing that!" When I finally showed him otherwise he was kinda weirded out :)
More in a couple weeks unless something exciting comes up - Later!

Story for Aunt Kiwi

It's funny I don't feel "that" big until I see a picture of myself and realize how big my belly actually is! Anyway, Aunt Kiwi wants me to share this story.... When we were home over Christmas she wanted to see if she could feel the baby move, so she had her hands on my stomach for a little while. She tried pushing and poking my tummy a little to make Baby P move with no success. She then decided to lay her head on my stomach in hopes to maybe hear something instead. Well, Baby P didn't like that too much and within a few seconds kicked her in the head :) Aunt Kiwi's comment, "You little sh--!"
I'm starting to feel more and more movement everyday which is both fun and weird. I only have 11 more weeks to go, so my doctor visits are now every 2 weeks instead of once a month. I'm getting a little freaked out now that we're closer to meeting the baby. I don't think any books or advice can really prepare me for what to expect. I'll keep reading anyway! Happy Friday!

Happy New Year!

Sorry it's been awhile. I know some of you were giving me a hard time for the delay, but better late than never :) As you can see, I'm getting bigger by the day. Today starts my third trimester so I'm on the home stretch - whoohoo!!
Something kinda hit home for me yesterday when I was out bridesmaid shopping with my best friend. I was talking to the consultant about what dress size to order since the wedding is two months after Baby P's arrival. She made some suggestions and then asked if this was my first child. I told her it was and she congratulated me then softly said "My husband and I have been married for 11 years and still no babies." My heart felt for her, as Ryan and I weren't even trying and were blessed with a child. As much of a shock as becoming pregnant was, we are so lucky to have God's hand in our lives.
I hope everyone had a fantabulous Christmas and New Year's - I know I did! It was great to be around family and friends for the holidays and it makes me appreciate the time we get to spend together. It's hard to believe it's 2008 already! Ryan and I wish you all the best year ever-Happy New Year!

I know it's been a while, but here's a pic from the middle of December I hadn't posted yet.
